Will Phreesia make me more money?

  • Phreesia increases your cash flow by collecting payments from patients before they leave the office.
  • By using Phreesia's Copay Calculator, you will collect the correct copayments at every visit.
  • Over 50% of patient balances go uncollected. Phreesia will never forget to collect a patient balance.

Can I still collect cash and/or check payments?

  • Yes, Phreesia allows patients to select their method of payment.
  • Cash and checks can be processed at your front desk.

Can I use my existing bank account?

  • Yes, all of the money collected by Phreesia will be deposited into the bank account of your choice.

How long will it take for payments to be deposited?

  • Payments will be deposited within 48-72 hours.

What credit cards will I be able to accept?

  • All major credit cards are accepted—Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.
  • Phreesia also accepts Flex Spending Account and Health Savings Account cards.

Do patients get a receipt?

  • Yes, the receipt is automatically printed after a patient has electronically signed for his or her transaction on the PhreesiaPad.

Can I void and refund transactions?

  • Yes, staff can conveniently and securely process, void, refund and track all patient payments in the online Phreesia Practice Portal.

Are you PCI-compliant?

  • Yes, Phreesia safeguards all of the information it collects.
  • Our encryption and security standards match those of banking institutions, to protect all cardholder data.

Can payments be deposited into multiple bank accounts (e.g. for multiple physicians)?

  • Yes, each clinician can have a separate merchant account set up with Phreesia.

How can I reconcile statements?

  • Phreesia securely stores all of your patient payment information, allowing you to review your transactions at any time.
  • Practice managers can also export all financial data from the Phreesia system, in various file formats.

Which payers are included with eligibility & benefits verification?

  • Phreesia uses a third-party service, which covers over 300 payers.

How much does Point-of-Care Eligibility and Benefits Verification cost?

  • E & B verification is included with Phreesia.

What is a PhreesiaPad?

  • A portable, wireless touchscreen tablet that replaces the outdated patient clipboard.
  • Patients enter all info by touch or with a stylus.

Is this a substitute for patient interviews?

  • No, however, patients often find it easier to confide sensitive information electronically than directly to a clinician (i.e. alcohol use, drug use, psychiatric evaluation, depression, etc.).
  • Phreesia encourages a more structured, meaningful clinician-patient conversation by better preparing the clinician and better informing the patient in advance of every visit.

Why does Phreesia not support my specialty?

  • We carefully design and test specialty-specific interviews in order to capture all necessary data from your patients.
  • We are currently in the process of adding specialties, so we may support your specialty soon.

Where is the educational content from?

  • Phreesia's educational content is derived from two separate sources:
    • Sponsored content is provided by some of the most prominent companies in the healthcare industry.
    • Non-sponsored content is provided by several leading medical and educational institutions.

How does the sponsored material work?

  • Your patients see sponsored content only AFTER they complete check-in and ONLY if they opt-in.
  • If you do not like a sponsor's health content, we will remove it within 24 hours.
  • Patients can choose to view non-sponsored health educational content.

How do I view patient information?

  • After a patient completes check-in, results can be automatically printed and are always securely stored for your review in an easy-to-use, searchable database called the Practice Portal.
  • You will receive a 100% legible and easy-to-read summary of your patient's interview.

Is patient privacy protected?

  • Yes. Phreesia is committed to the rules outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). We have implemented a secure platform in order to preserve the privacy and security of individually identifiable patient information that is gathered and transmitted via the Phreesia system.
  • As a business associate of your practice, we are required to safeguard any personal health information (PHI) that passes through Phreesia. We work closely with your practice to share our knowledge of best practices for setting up and maintaining a HIPAA-compliant Phreesia experience.
  • Ultimately, it is the responsibility of each practice to ensure it is compliant with HIPAA regulations.
