Our Story
21 years ago, every patient in America checked in on paper. Phreesia changed that, and never stopped building. Today we’re the operating standard for high-performing healthcare organizations, powering everything that happens before, during and after the visit.

In 2005, every patient in America was checked in the same way—with a clipboard, a pen and a stack of paper that nobody wanted to fill out and nobody wanted to type back into the system later.
We saw what the industry missed: what happens before the provider walks in the room determines what happens to the practice financially, operationally and clinically. So, we built the first digital patient check-in platform in healthcare. For the first time, practices could collect accurate information, verify insurance and process payments before the visit even began.
Paperwork went away. The work didn’t.
And that was just the beginning.
Not what’s trending, not what’s easiest to build. Instead, what will make the practices that run on Phreesia outperform those that don’t? That’s what has driven every investment we’ve made for 21 years—and what will continue to drive us for the next 21 (and beyond).
We built the first digital patient check-in platform in healthcare. Practices could collect accurate information, verify insurance and process payments before the visit began. The clipboard era ended.
We went deep on EHR and PM integrations—not only just connecting to host systems, but also reading and writing back into them across all major platforms. We became a registered payment facilitator, embedding payments directly into workflows and helping practices increase cash flow.
We invested early in meeting patients where they were: mobile-first, self-service and connected across text and email. When COVID-19 arrived and others scrambled to go digital, Phreesia customers ran at full capacity. That’s what always investing years ahead looks like.
Every era of computing has redefined what’s possible. The internet made information accessible. Intelligence makes action automatic. We’ve spent years building the workflow data, EHR integrations and patient context that intelligence needs to actually work in healthcare. So, while others are figuring AI out, we’re already closing loops by filling slots, catching denials, handling calls and writing corrections back into the system. This isn’t intelligence bolted on. It’s intelligence built in.
Healthcare works best when patients can get the care they need and pay for it without friction. Those two things, access and affordability, are where the most value gets created, for patients and for the practices that serve them.
Phreesia is building toward both ends of that equation. Improving access so patients get into care faster and more easily. Building the financial infrastructure so providers get paid for the services they deliver. When both work together, patients engage more fully in their care and practices perform at their best.
That’s the future we’re building, grounded in 21 years of workflow data no new entrant can replicate. That’s why the best-performing healthcare organizations run on Phreesia.
Phreesia is publicly traded (NYSE: PHR), with the financial discipline to keep building when the cycle turns. Healthcare doesn’t need another fast company. It needs one that will still be here—and still be building—for the next 21 years (and beyond).
Phreesia runs on people who know healthcare. Clinical leaders, product engineers, practice operators turned platform builders—people who’ve sat at the front desk and the boardroom.

The best-performing healthcare organizations don't pick the platform that's flashiest. They pick the one their teams can actually run on—and the one that will still be building toward what they need next. That's Phreesia.
