It’s Women’s Health Week, a week dedicated to encouraging women and girls to make health a priority. For too long, women have been left out of scientific and biomedical research, so we’re thrilled to hear about the recent executive order from the White House to advance women’s health research and innovation. The order puts an emphasis on the need for more research about women’s health, especially for women of color, older women and women with disabilities. We know that when there’s more data available, healthcare providers can more confidently and accurately support patients. Thanks to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services's decision to include the Patient Activation Measure in MIPS and specialty measure sets, the #patientvoice is being incorporated more widely across healthcare settings. The PAM’s impact is tangible. Over 800 studies back its effectiveness in improving outcomes and lowering costs.   My colleague Kristen Ballantine recently wrote about how PAM can be used by providers to tailor care to fit individual needs, which is particularly helpful in specialty care settings where certain conditions may require advance support.   What’s next? Phreesia is advocating for even wider adoption across specialties with the goal of creating a future where it is the norm for all patients to receive the personalized care they deserve. https://lnkd.in/enfPS-r2

Did you know that approximately 1 in 3 patients never fill their prescriptions? This not only leads to poorer #healthoutcomes for patients but also has a negative impact on the entire healthcare system. So what can the healthcare industry do to combat medication #nonadherence? See below...👇 We won't be able to solve this problem through more phone calls - especially in the face of ongoing staffing shortage and burnout. We need to shift how we #engage and #activate patients. In Phreesia's latest blog post ✍, I outline how provider organizations can address medication #nonadherence by proactively engaging patients the moment their prescription is written, understanding their #barriers to adherence and providing education and resources that are tailored to them: https://bit.ly/3wrHp9w

When it comes to #womenshealth, one of the things we don't talk about enough is urinary incontinence, to the point that 1 in 4 women do not raise it with their healthcare providers.    Increasing awareness, and supporting patients with the resources they need to voice this concern would help lead to earlier detection and treatment.    Phreesia is proud to partner with The National Association For Continence (NAFC) to draw attention to this important issue for Women's Health Week, in a reminder that we need more than a week. We need to invest in research on women's health across the entire care continuum.
